COVID - 19: What You Need to Know!

COVID VACCINE INFORMATION

If you are interested in receiving the vaccine, please CALL our office so that we can review your chart to see which COVID vaccine you need based on your age and previous vaccine history.

We encourage all who are eligible for vaccination to do so as soon as they can. You are more than welcome to speak with our providers if you have questions about the COVID vaccines.

You can also go to https://www.calvertcountycovid19.com/ to find more vaccination sites.

COVID TESTING INFORMATION
  • We offer both Rapid (Antigen) and PCR testing for COVID-19.
  • Please call to schedule an appointment if you would like to be tested.
  • TESTING IS AVAILABLE FOR ESTABLISHED PATIENTS ONLY
  • Rapid COVID testing involves a nasal swab and takes 15 minutes to result.
  • PCR testing involves a nasal swab and takes anywhere between 2-3 days to return.

COVID Prevention Guidelines
- Wear a mask in crowded public spaces. The only exception to this rule is children under the age of 2, who should not wear masks.
- Wash your hands! Use soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer often, and always before and after eating or touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Clean all high-contact surfaces (like doorknobs and light switches) as often as possible.

If You/Your Child Feel Sick (cold symptoms, fever, body aches, diarrhea/vomiting) OR If You/Your Child Is Being Tested for COVID
- Self-quarantine immediately!!
- Separate yourself from other people in your home. As much as possible, limit yourself to 1 room and 1 bathroom.
- Seek prompt medical attention if your symptoms are worsening! If you or your child is having severe symptoms such as trouble breathing, call 911 and get to the emergency room. For all other concerns, call our office (410-535-5555) or our after-hours number (410-535-8202)
- Stay hydrated. For adults and teenagers, aim for 8 ounces every 2 hours. For younger children, aim for your child to pee at least once every 4 hours.
Use acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) to help control fever, sore throat, body aches and pains. Note: Infants under 6 months old should not use ibuprofen.
- During your  self-quarantine, you SHOULD NOT have other children over, family or friends over, or be going to others’ homes.

Quarantine Duration:
- If your COVID test returned positive, you must self-quarantine at home for 5 days, followed by an additional 5 days of strict mask-wearing anytime you are in public. Kids who cannot wear masks must self-quarantine for 10 days.
- If your COVID test returned negative, you may stop self-quarantine when you are informed of the results. Kids with a negative COVID test may return to school when fever-free x 24 hours.
